BOLTdaptors - Mount Things to Your Rear Dropout Bolts!

Does it seem strange to bolt something to... another bolt? Yeah, we get it — but check it out! These M8 bolts are drilled and tapped with an M5 thread on the inside, so a 5mm bolt can be screwed into them, meaning almost anything you want to mount (like a rack or fender) can be attached to your dropout bolts!

This is pretty straightforward, but the devil is in the details, as the saying goes. Take a few minutes to ensure you've got a handle on the numbers.

Compatibility with Your BIKE

Before purchasing, make sure you can answer YES to these two points...

The rear dropouts on your bike utilize one or more M8 (8mm) bolts, as pictured below.
The length of the M8 dropout bolts are either 18-20mm.

Compatibility with Your RACK

Racks are made in many different sizes — it's important to measure your rack — and using RADaptors will lower the racks a substantial amount. Take two quick measurements...

First, measure the vertical distance between the lower rack mount and the bottom of the rack platform, as pictured below.
Now, measure the vertical distance between the center of your dropout bolts to the top of the tire.
CLEARANCE between rack and tire (with RADaptors installed) is found by subtracting the second measurement from the first.
The CLEARANCE you calculated above must be positive and preferably half an inch to an inch (12-25mm).
NOT ENOUCH CLARANCE? RADaptor-2 may help. Its upper mounting point adds an inch (25mm) more clearance.

Using BOLTdaptors with RADaptors

If you're using RADaptors AND BOLTdaptors, order BOLTdaptors that are 2mm longer than your current M8 dropout bolts (otherwise, order the size that matches your dropout bolt length).
