Fixing What?

Okay, they won't solve your N+1 dilemmas, or any problems related to leaving the toilet seat up, but they will fix your rear axle in place. You'll find these bolts on bikes with horizontal dropouts. They're used to set or adjust the axle position and/or for tensioning the chain (on single speed bikes). We like swapping out the OEM hardware for these stainless steel socket head bolts that include a knurled thumb nut to lock them in place.

Sold in single nut+bolt sets.

Order 2 if you need them for both sides.

Most mountain bikes that use fixing bolts will take an M5 bolt.
You can test this by taking a bolt from one of your water bottle cage mounts and trying to thread it into the fixing bolt location, or vice versa. Just make sure the threads are clean and don't force anything.

Most road bikes that use fixing bolts will take an M3 bolt.
You can test using the above method with the water bottle cage bolt. If it's too large you mostly likely need the M3 bolt. If it fits, then you need the M5.

Not many bikes use M4 fixing bolts.
We don't carry them for that reason.

Wondering which bolt size you need?

  • M5 = a little larger than 3/16"
  • M3 = a little smaller than 1/8"
